I’m a newbie to Digital SLR Camera, to start my first DSLR, i’m consider only those economic camera. Canon 1000D and 450D is what in my consideration, the two cheapest DSLR among canon product. After i do some simple comparison and also some advice from my friend, i decide to focus on 450D. Because there is not much price different between 1000D and 450D, with better specification, 450D is the better choice for me.
What my friend tell me to buy a DSLR is, start with a low cost camera, and buy a good lens for it. His philosophy is good lens can still be used when upgrade the low cost DSLR to better model, but cheaper lens is not suitable for better DSLR. Besides, what i get to know from him, lenses of DSLR is much expensive than a body of DSLR. Lenses of DSLR, is as important as the engine of a car.
So, 450D is already in my mind to start my DSLR career. But just few moment after that, i found the latest model of Canon, EOS 500D, the successor of 450D. With 15 megapixels resolution (compare to 450D’s 12 megapixels), ISO 100 to 3200 (for 450D is 100 to 1600), and most important, it adopt the DIGIC 4 image processor, compare to 450D’s DIGIC 3.
Now i’m still looking for those who own it and write their comment online.

It’s an exact situation I am in currently. I am too looking forward to some reviews and opinions about 500D for such a freshman of DSLR world.
I think 500D is a generous upgrade of 450D. Hence, theoretically, it should be just better than 450D in every aspect without drawbacks compared with its predecessor but a slightly higher price.
Here in Beijing, a 500D 17-55mm IS Kit is sold at RMB 5788 (approx. USD 847.5)， while a 450D Kit like this is just RMB 4788 (approx. USD 700) .
Man, I just don’t know which to buy.
